Hello all! This is my first post. I have a five year old L3400 with about a thousand hours on it. I have always changed fluids and filters as per the book. Just a couple of days ago during light landscaping the transmission began to lag when the pedal is pushed. Now I barely have any reverse and forward is about half speed of what it used to be when the pedal is fully depressed. Since I live in a rural area many hours from a service center - is there any troubleshooting and or anything which I could check to cure this new issue with my tractor? All comments appreciated. Thanks in advance. --Jeff

Had a hydraulics problem with my L3400 that's about the same age as yours, but it caused jerky steering and FEL operation rather than just slowing down. It was a split in the hydraulic suction hose - the hose is just forward of the brake pedals, and the leak is where it takes a right-angle bend coming up from the suction pipe. Apparently this is a common problem for Kubota. Got a replacement from Messicks and it fixed the problem immediately.

Don't know if that's your answer, but it's worth checking. Easy to check, easy to fix. Good luck!

This is one reason I like gear drive over HST.

I don't know how to trouble shoot HST, but I'd be up under it making sure a stick or something didn't get jammed up into the peddles. Also make sure no leavers or rods are bent.

Problem solved. I had a mechanic friend have a look at it. He found that a lever inside had a bolt keeper come off allowing the bolt to loosen. That is all it was. An hour and we are back in business.

Thanks for the replies!
