Hey fellas,

I'm back sooner than I expected:) Well, since I had my neighbors tractor in the shop the other day, he asked me to look at another issue- pedal jerkiness/stiffness... It's not a real smooth transition when taking off and it's not like you have to stand on the pedal to make it go, just a little extra effort and then it'll grab and go. I might be imagining things, but it also seems reverse is faster than forward speed? I was in medium and maybe it was just me??? One other observation w/ the pedal, it looks like there is more travel in the reverse position than forward. I don't know if it's supposed to be that way, but it is something I noticed.

Thanks,

Jeff

I've got a mower with hst.
Every now and then it creeps forward on its own or jerky movement as discussed above.

Added 2 squeezes of greaseat the zerk and problem solved.
Give it a rip.

Hey Jeff,
Of course all models are not represented or have exactly the same parts. My L3400 HST (think it a 2009 model) pedal was sticky and jerky in forward making for some interesting launches. It was smooth in in reverse. I tracked it down to a pivot point on the lever that goes up to the safety switch attached to the steering tower. At the pivot point is a roller located just ahead of the pedal under the linkage cover plate. The roller on mine can be seen through the slot at the rear of the cover.
I gave this a quick shot of WD40 and the results were immediate, the pedal now travels freely and smoothly making for much better fine movements.

Hope this helps
Tom

Was watching an auctioneer try to start and sell a MF 1010 hydro, yesterday, exhibited the same symptoms. Are you sure the parking brake is off??:D:D
