Does anyone have experience removing the drive shaft between the rear wheel drive and front wheel drive of a L3400 HST? I suspect that it is a coupler in the driveshaft enclosure making all the noise and causing the front end to not engage but I don't want to disassembly more than is required to verify that is the problem. I have seen where this is a problem on other Kubota models but they come apart differently. Looking for someone who has been down this path before.

Super easy:
Remove bolt on cover ( yellow ).
Slide cover ( blue ) to the rear.
Drive out roll pin ( Red )
Slide coupling to the rear and the whole drive shaft will come out.
Typically the front coupling will be the one that is stripped.

my little massey ferguson. Pile of junk. Anyway 4x4 quit on it. Found that it's got a real similar drive shaft as all of the many kubota's that I've worked on over the years, including the one in the original post. Slid up under it and found that the MF uses a snap ring to keep the collar from sliding off. Snap ring dislodged from it's groove and collar slid back. Easy fix.

All the years I hated those roll pins that Kubota uses, and then now on my massey, I WISH it used that design. I may modify it myself at some point to accept a roll pin like Kubota does.
