I parked my tractor in the spring and did not disconnect the bush hog from the tractor. Now trying to catch up on maintenance, i noticed that the left side arm pin ( that connects the mower to tractor arm ) was rusted in place.
Trying to find out best way to remove the pin without damaging the bearing slot ???( the hole for pin )
I think i can just remove the whole lower arm assembly and press it out ? what do you think is best ? I am ready to start mowing with this machine.

I think you could probably press it out but you could try a liberal application of penetrating oil first. Tap it a few times with a hammer and let it soak for a day or two. You could then try to rotate the pin with vise grips. I'm lazy. I'd go for the press as a last resort.

As Roadworthy suggested, soak it with a penetrating oil, then take a hammer and a block of wood, putting the end of the block against the pin and tapping on the block with the hammer. That should jar it loose, without damaging anything.

It can't be rusted too bad if it's just set since Spring. All the suggestions should solve your problem easily. Soak it and tap it!

thank you for the replies. I was in a bind due to 6 months of no rain, then we received 13 inches within a 2 week period. In my Hurry to service and do maintanence i had to cut the old pin to remove the mower and service the pto shaft, and change fluids on the tractor. Apparently the rear of the tractor was getting hit daily with my sprinkler system which was not a good thing. I used lots of PB blast, and ended up drilling a small hole thru the pin. and then kept drilling a larger bit each time . I was able to remove the pin from the bearing receiver and am now good to to on that. I Rescued this tractor from a field after it sat for 2 years.
So i have some fluid maintenance to work on .
