L3130 Console lights go dead when key turned to Start

When I turn key to on lights on console come on, glow light comes on then off. Then when I switch to start, I hear a relay click then everything goes dark. No lights when key turned on. Wait a day, turn key to on lights on console come on, glow light comes on then off, turn key to start and everything goes dark again. Suspect starter or alternator. But don't understand why every goes dark, but turning switch on next day lights on console.

Bad battery connections, more than likely bad ground.

You are correct. Loose connection on + terminal. Also, had a big wasp nest under the console.
