Was wondering if anyone has had problems with splines wearing off inside the clutch disk. I have a L3130 that i purchased new in 2003. When the tractor had 280 hours on it the clutch came out. dealer picked it up called and said the clutched had burned up. I made a trip to the dealer same day to have a look for myself. When arriving the mechanic had just completed taking out the clutch the disc looked new but the splines were worn smooth. service mgr called kubota they put a new clutch in and covered the bill. Yesterday while mowing hay I started to pull off clutch is out again. Tractor now has 720 hours on it. Called dealer he said they would call kubota next eek and get back with me. He mentioned they had had a problem with the bell housing in some of these tractors. Has anyone else heard of these problems, or has any advise on what could be causing this failure?

What transmission does the tractor have? I worked on a L30 series tractor with an hst and had replaced the clutch disc. I noticed it had excessive wear on the teeth for the input shaft. It was not apart for this reason, but it was replaced anyway.

Also, the problem I have seen with the bell housing was that the 4wd shaft seals leak. It is a problem on the L10 L30 and L40 series tractors, and anything in between. Most commonly when it is cold outside, the will start to leak from the small pin that sticks through the bottom of the bell housing. If they do leak, it usually always oils up the clutch disc.

Thanks for everyones input so far, the tractor has a GST transmission. I have never heard of a clutch disc with the splines rounded off like this one has. I hope someone can help me with this problem:

That tractor used a frontmounted snow blower and possibly a rear mower so it had a lot of load constant through the driveline. Do you use the PTO alot on your machine?

No, I have a front end loader, and mostly use the rear pto to bushog and run sickle mower twice a year. I use the front end loader mostly for mulch, sometimes use the box blade or rock rake 4 or 5 times a year.
