Have a L3010 with the GST tranny.
Has worked fine until recently.

When the machine is first started it works normally from forward to reverse.

After a few times back and forth it won't go into either forward or reverse unless you sit an wait for quite awhile.

It just started acting up out of the blue.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Wish I could offer some advice, owned the same tractor for 5 years. Only thing I experienced was a slight pause when up shifting while moving, probably normal for the GST but it still felt odd. Bought that tractor with 650 hours so had not been used a lot. How many hours are on the machine?

When was the last fluid and filter change?
What are your temps.
What fluid did you use on the last change?
Do you have the WSM, as it has a troubleshooting and testing section.

I had it all apart 100 hrs ago to fix the broken snap ring on the face of the wet clutch. I used genuine kubota udt fluid and filters. Sold it to a friend who is having the trouble. Said it started all of a sudden. When it's cold he can get 3 or 4 forward/reverse engagements before there is the delay. It always eventually goes forward/reverse if you wait long enough.
Told me the loader was slow to go up when he started it this morning. Don't know if that points to a plugged filter?
Temps here now are just about freezing

Yep, sounds like a fluid flow issue.

Just found out that the ower added some Shell Spirex oil when it was low. Could that be the issue?
Yep could be.
I don't know the specs on that fluid.

If it's really wrong fluid type it could have damaged seals and or clutch disks.

Try turning the steering wheel while raising the loader. Is the steering and or the loader jerking?
