Hello, I have a L3000DT that when you engage the pto, there is a rythmic knocking noise coming from the back half of the tractor. If you push down on the clutch, it slowly fades. I operate a woods bush hog with it, but only in the summer. It sounds and feels like the noise is coming from the transmission area, but the sound could be traveling, any ideas would be helpful. Oh the tractor has 269 hours on it, and I found the rear sump was low on fluid. Thank you in advance.

My L 3000 is a 2000 model and it makes a kind of knocking sound as well. I think it has something to do with the throw out bearing or something in the clutch area. Mine doesn't just make this noise when the PTO is in use it will make it all the time even when it's sitting still. When the clutch is in the noise stops and when it's out in makes it. Been doing it since it was new and when I questioned the dealer about it when I bought the tractor they told me that it was the nature of the beast.

As far as the low fluid level. The trans/diff hold 8.5 gallons of fluid. How low was yours?
