I just purchased an L2900 that will not move very fast. in 4wd mode and in first gear I got it off the trailer. I just got it at an auction. It will move very slowly like a slipping transmission. Could it not be in gear? Hydraulic fluid is good. First gear is the only one that barely works.

If I understand you correctly 1st gear is the only gear that the tractor will move in and it feels like it is slipping, It is possibe that your clutch is worn or burnt to the point that it will not move the tractor, Do your PTOs work correctly and not slip(you will need to put some type of load.

I don't have any implements yet. The front end loader works great. I noticed alot of play on the clutch pedal. I'm looking for a WSM on this tractor.

The front end loader works off of the hydraulic pump on the engine and not the transmission so it is powered thru the clutch.

Is there any type of burnt smell when the tractor is trying to move under power.

No burnt smell. Just slow moving. I heard that the shifter cable gets stretched out sometimes or gets jammed up. I just ordered a Service Manual. Mine has the GST Transmission. So far it looks like the clutch.
