Is there a mid PTO available for the 4 wheel drive L2850? People tell me there is but I can see no place to install it. From the pics I have seen the drive shaft for the front is connected where it would be. Any pics of one installed on a 2850 4WD would be good.

There was an optional mid pto but to buy one now is very expensive. The mid pto gear case alone, without any internals, is almost $900. I do not know if the tractors without a mid pto can have one retrofitted.

It attaches to the bottom of the transmission and appears to have been optional.

See the illustrations from Messicks parts and the WSM.

Yea like Dave said, it bolts to the bottom of the transmission.
If you can find the unit, it might not work because I'm not sure if your transmission is equipped with the drive gear that runs it.

What do you want if for?
Implements for it are also very hard to aquire.

I ask because the mid drive shaft and subframe and lift setup is VERY VERY rare and pretty dang expensive when you do find it. :(

Yes, you CAN install a mid point. The retrofit kit is RARE; I got mine from a lucky eBay find for only $600 a couple of years ago. I haven't installed it yet, but will when I finish adapting my L2052 snowblower to my skidsteer quick-tach plate. My kit is specificaly for the 4wd version, and replaces the FWD drive shaft housing protruding from under the tractor. I also have the sub-frame for the snowblower, and probably won't be using it.
