2004 L2800 1500hrs from rental place.
I know that's not the best place to buy a tractor but serviced every 250 hrs.
It's the only one I can afford right now and would use it 2-30 hrs a yr.
Asking 10,900 got them down to 9k out the door.
Yeah it's rough and not R4 tires but would do the good for home owner.
Compared to B7800 I saw for same price this is a bigger frame and lift is better.
Thoughts?

9k with the box blade? The good news is that it is HST. HST somewhat protects the transmission from abuse by going into bypass mode before damage. For the price, I would say it's not a bad price (if you check out the PTO cams).

PTO cams on 2004 until early '06; were not the best and is a weak spot. If this tractor was used for tilling, it could be a problem. Basically, the face of the 2 cams were 90* (flat) to each others... the new ones are angled in to get a more positive engagement. Do they have tillers or chippers (or stump grinders) to test on it. Also, point blank ask them does the PTO skip or make noise.

Another issue with these, when they came out, was how jerky the 3 point hitch was... (tons of old reading about it). To me it would have been a deal breaker (grading roads) but some units were NOT as effected by it (or the tractor was only going to mow and the 3 point hitch didn't need "fine" tuning). Just put a box blade on the 3 point hitch... test it out by slowly raising the 3 point hitch lever... one smooth, continuous action. Then you be the judge...

Check the sight glass on the left side (where your left heel would sit) on the side of the transmission to make sure the hydraulic fluid is not milky.

For the record, engine oil change interval is every 100 hours. Hydraulic fluid is changed every 400 hours. I have 1000 hours, on a 2005.

For the price point, it seems really low (great buy) but do test it out and make sure there is nothing wrong with it... I'm sure the tractor earn the rental company plenty of money...

How much mud is on your property? If it's mainly grass, those are not bad tires. What are some of your needs for the tractor? I love mine...

They sent me a video and just box on back with FEL, both the controls do seem jerky but heard this is indicative of these. Box went up and down and FEL moves good. Everything seems to work no smoke just looks bad. Note the operator didn't really seem that great.
Mostly grass out here with no mud some sand, home owner use only.
From a rental store so assuming just loader and grading work. They assure me oil checked every 250hrs but u know how that goes.

I you are mechanically incline, the pto fix didn't look too hard. It was posted either here on OTT or over on TBN. Below are the parts that the dude who did his L2800 had ordered and I ordered the same thing.

I have not replaced mine... just haven't found the time. When I first started to think about replacing the part, it was $60 +/- NO idea what it costs now!!! $143.69

Wish I could show video they sent, runs good but FEL a little jerky, will test tomorrow.
1500hrs isn't so bad compared to some others I've tested and seen. Old but I think this machine still have life left in it plus I have a Kubota dealer here locally just in case.

I would buy it for that price!
Three point and FEL are working normally.

They are a super easy machine to operate and maintain.

It's a diamond in the rough, for sure... the FEL looked normal to me. As for the rear lift, yes, if you pull up quickly, you'll never notice if it's jerky.

Also, good thing about a jerky hitch, you can knock off any dirt off your box blade or post hole digger. They are usable as is... I didn't see or hear anything wrong with that tractor.

Well, unfortunately this L2800 was worn slap out, otherwise would have gotten it.
FEL pins all worn, hood hard to open, tires dry rotted.
Should've none better. The only way to know is to put eyes on them, that's for sure.
Still looking.

Look into dealer Harvest Returns. I bought a L2800 years ago for half of the new cost with 135 hours. Out here, the manufacturers flood the market with tractors in the fall for the harvest season. The big buyers use them for a short time and then return them for credit. The dealers then get manufacture support to resell with full warranty and heavily discounted.

Be warned the one major downfall to Mahindra is trying to find parts to fix them can be near to impossible.

I would take a beat up 50 year old Kubota over a Mahindra any day!
Not a hater just makes me sad when people come to me to fix them and I have to say sorry parts are not available and it's now a big boat anchor.

Not a hater just makes me sad when people come to me to fix them and I have to say sorry parts are not available and it's now a big boat anchor.
I've heard that too but how can one of the biggest makers of tractors have a parts supply problem?

They are also known for making parts that do not cross between any series
Making parts harder to get.
One model can have various different parts and designs between models.

There is often several different parts manuals for one model or series.

Just got off phone with Mahindra dealer here and they have parts service sales. Parts are in stock and most can be gotten w/i days.
Any other reason not to buy a Mahindra?
