L2800 speed shift lever (L/H/R/N) pops back, which caused the tractor to die. I see a spring down there. Is the spring supposed to be up or down? I am reluctant to try to pry it up for fear of damaging it. Is the spring worn out and needs to be replaced?

So you have a Manual / Gear transmission? I don't follow your question. "... (L/H/R/N) ..." Low/High/Reverse/Neutral, by your left leg?

"... caused the tractor to die..." Is this because no one is in the seat??? Or just stalls out?

I'm Not much help vs. if this was HST / hydrostatic drive...

I don't see a spring there... #90
