L2800 buying advice

Been looking at new tractors and had just about decided on a B3300, but, after having spent a day on a friends tractor, brush hogging 2.5 miles of fire breaks and 4 acres of food plots, I may have changed my mind.

I will need to transport whatever I buy 100 miles round trip a few times a year, and the max tow rating on my truck is 5000 pounds.

I have found a 2007 L2800 HST with just over 100 hours, original owner, with a Woods 1012 loader and quick detach bucket, for a couple thousand less (~14k) than the new B3300 (~16k).

Although the horsepower is a bit higher on the 3300, the weight of the 2800 would certainly help getting the power to the ground. The 2800 also looks to be a much heavier built tractor.

Of course, the 2800 would have no warranty........and the weight of the 2800 with loader OR brush hog (with trailer) is right on the high side of what I can tow with my current tow vehicle, so that is a concern too.....could not transport with both the loader and brush hog at the same time.

If I went with the 3300, I could leave the loader and mower attached.

NO, I WON'T be buying a different tow vehicle!!:D

Any known issues with the 2007 L2800??

Which would you buy and why??

Thanks!

First off I want to know more about the tow vehicle, details and info there would be helpful. My thoughts are if its a full size truck look into putting a goose neck hitch in the bed and you get better towing capacity versus a tag along trailer.

Even if that would work, I'd have to buy a different trailer which is also not going to happen........:D

Let's just say the tow vehicle is what it is and will stay what it is ('04 Tacoma extended cab 4x4 v6).......which TRACTOR would you buy given the conditions in the original post??

I'd get the L2800.

The L series is just built heavier and stronger than the B.

Warranty? I've never needed one. If the used one is working fine at 100 hrs, it's goin to go a lot more, with no issues.

I've bought 3 Kubotas in almost 30 years and all were used.

I'm with Bluegill I'd get the L2800 for it being the heavy weight of the two tractors. Then again hauling a heavy tractor is going to be an issue as well. I can tell you from experiance your going to be kicking yourself in the ass by not getting the right size tractor from the start.

The L 2800 is a good tractor. The extra weight may not be an advantage in towing but it will be when operating the tractor.
