I recently needed to replace the voltage regulator on my L2550 and upon ordering one using the original part number that was on the original case top I ran into problems. When I plugged it in I would hear a solenoid activate and the charging idiot light on the dash would aluminate. Upon closer inspection I found that although the regulator was correct the six pin plug was wire differently. I laid both the new one and the original on the bench so I could view the wires and solder connections. I removed the pins from the new regulator and reinserted them to match the original and bingo it’s working fine now. At some point they must have changed pin location. By the way, this was my second regulator and had the same problem with the first one. Just thought this might help someone out.
