Over the years I have owned and worked on a lot of used equipment that folks weren't very careful with there fueling practices. Have removed a lot of tanks over the years for cleaning. I won't think about removing a cap on a piece of equipment without blowing compress air around the filler cap first. I have a compressor on my fuel trailer and a air hose hanging by my fuel tanks at my buildings. If I am fueling out in the field with the fuel trailer I even put a rag around the fuel inlet with the nozzle. I came from the buy clean fuel and keep it clean school. A buddy is not very careful with his fueling practices and it cost him twenty grand last fall to get his late model combine back up and running. He now has rethought his refueling practices. These newer diesels don't like dirt and water.

I should do something with my B. I never seem to get around to it. But yeah, I see a bit of dirt going into the tank sometimes when I'm filling. Hasn't been a problem yet, probably will be at some point. The tank is up front of the tractor though, so probably easier to clean than many.

Ok so has anyone found the PN for the strainer that fits L series?

Now I have to get one because yesterday I went to fuel my L 3302 and was too lazy to get my pump so I unscrewed the cap on the fuel can and I watched a pine needle fly into the can.

I have a large funnel with a brass screen and used it to catch the pine needle.
What are the odds?

Apparently the engineer that put the fill spout in the middle of the hood, also had a say in spec'ing out the fuel fill opening and thought it was appropriate to make a larger tractor have a smaller fuel opening.

So B's have a larger fuel fill opening.
You ought to see the opening on a BX--it's like we all have large hands or something... :ROFLMAO:
