L2501 Airbox modification

Anyone tried modifying the airbox? It seems like a mighty small inlet. Wondering if the engine would benefit from some more air?
Also planning to increase timing and play with the fuel pressure in time.

Read up on the turbo addition, it's the only thing that will give you a noticeable benefit.
I don't think I've read about having to change the airbox to make that upgrade work?

Most airboxes are particularly designed to direct the incoming air in specific flow….(often with a swirl to centrifuge dirt/debris out/away from the filter in order to increase efficiency.)

Any ad hoc alteration to the airbox may adversely affect efficiency, rather than improve it.

It may also diminish filter longevity.

For sure, do some searches here. There is also a guy on YouTube that increased the power without a turbo.
