I have a question about the rated lift capacity (at the 3 pt hitch) for a L2501. According to the Kubota website the 3point will lift a little over 1900lbs at 24". Ok that sounds great but then I noticed the 3301 & 3901 is rated at a little over 1400lbs at 24". I have always understood that the L3301 & 3901 as basically the same tractor as the L2501 with more power (33hp & 39hp). If that is the case why is the 3pt lift capacity considerably less than the 25hp L2501? Is this a misprint on the Kubota website and literature or some mechanical difference I am unaware of, just curious.

I think your misreading something, the L2501 has less capacity than the L3501 and L3901.

Now as far as if they have the same mechanical parts why not the same lift capacity, look at the last # system PSI is higher on the L3501 / L3901 thus more lift.

L2501

1918 lbs @ pin
1389 lbs @ 24"
@ 2205 PSI

L3501 / L3901

1985 lbs @ pin
1430 lbs @ 24"
@ 2350 PSI

If you actually get a chance to park an L2501 next to a L3301, there are subtle differences. The dash and hood come to mind. The L3301 is a touch larger, by ever so small a degree.

The L2501 makes PTO power at 2200 rpms, whereas the larger 01 machines are closer to 25-2600 rpms. That could account for the dimenished weight ratings?

Thanks. That makes more sense. I have a friend call the other day wanting to buy a tractor and asked me what I got (L2501). I suggested something bigger/heavier as he will use it to move round bales. I got to looking at 3 point lift capacities and tractor weights to help him decide and noticed this. Just didn't make sense.
