Hello everyone, I attempted to find a similar forum post with no luck.
My L2500 3 point hitch has gradually stopped lifting. Gradually, if it can be called that, was within one afternoon. It is pumping fluid. At first when I moved the level it sounded awful. The hydraulic screech. I added some oil but the eye glass is no longer transparent so I’m unsure about the oil level. There are no leaks on this tractor and it is maintained. The screeching stopped over time and I have some lift but it’s slow. When I first start it up, it takes more than a minute to get the lift moving.
Can y’all give me some insight on what to check before taking it to the shop? I cannot fine any schismatics showing filter screen location, flow, hoses/piping, etc. I just don’t want it to cost me a couple hundred bucks for something I could fix myself

I’d start by figuring out how much fluid is in there not guessing. Sounds like it could be a filter issue. Gonna guess it’s been a wile since the filter was changed given your unsure of its location. Found this video with quick search on YouTube. Probably a good place to start.

I wish a trip to the dealer was only a couple hundred bucks around me. I don’t even think they would open the garage door for that.

Here is the hydraulic filter screen.
You will need to drain the hydraulic fluid to open it and pull the screen filter and clean it.
When you drain the hydraulic fluid do it at both the transmission and the 2 rear axle housings.

While you at it, replace the sight glass so you can see if it's full or not.
