Will a 3 point snowblower work on a older L245DT that does not have a live PTO? What would be the maximum width it could handle. I have been told both yes and no.

I was running a 600 Farm King for the last 6 years on a L185DT..

I had to make sure that I never let the snow get deeper then 8 inches, part might have been that the Tractor never ran all that great..

The PTO issue just takes some planning to overcome, also I was running the PTO in the 3rd gear which IIRC was 1000 rpm..

I will say this year upgrading to a newer larger L3600 with a live PTO has made life much easier...

Shouldn't be any problem with the dead pto. The only catch is it's going to take the PTO a little bit to spin up so you may need to move forward a few feet before restarting if you stop in the deep stuff. That machine has an over running clutch so you can stop before the blower spins down.

You're rated at 22 PTO HP so looking at the 3pt blowers Northern Tool carries you should able to comfortably swing a 50" blower and might be able to push it to a 60" if you go slow. Check the required HP for the individual blower you go with though. Measure your rear tire track width. If you've got the big turf tires you may need to get narrower AG tires so they'll clear the blower width.

I run a 60" Inland blower on the back of my L245DT and it will deal with 12" of snow. Only down side is the speed in reverse is too fast (reverse is equal to 3rd gear forward, ground speed wise), so I am going to build a mount to put the blower front so I can lower my ground speed. Then it should handle 15-18" no problem.
