i noticed there is what appears to be an inline coolant heater on my l2250. im used to the type that insert in the frost plug hole on the engine block in a car. does this one heat the coolant and circulate it as well? how long should i plug it in for prior to use or should i just leave it plugged in all the time? would it help to plug it in prior to an oil change to make the oil flow better if the tractor hasnt been running? thanks

The inline heater, this in the lower radiator hose?

IT should be "plugged" in when you need to preheat your tractor before a cold startup.

Many plug in about an hour or two before using the tractor, at a certain point of time - it will not heat anymore due to the thermal losses of the heat being absorbed by the cold around it, plus it will be a simple waste of electricity.

Best to place on a mechanical timer so it cut on at the time desired if the tractor is used daily.

The circulation comes from the hot water rising and then cooler water falling back.

AS for changing the oil ....... this will not help much - the oil is in the pan a good bit away from the heated water in the block.

if you want to change your oil - run the tractor for 30 minutes or more......... then change the oil, obviously the oil will be fairly hot to the touch.
