L200 steering gear box

I have inherited a older (gray market?) L200 that after getting running the steering went out and after some disassembly found the gear box
had been sitting full of water for some time and has caused failure of the shaft worm and ball gear assembly. Is it best to replace the whole assembly
or am I good with the shaft assembly ? The gear with shaft to pitman arm looks fairly good. Have not gotten steering wheel off of shaft yet and looks like it
may be troublesome. Could use some direction on best route(place) to purchase parts on this one.
