Hi all. New here. I have a 70's L185DT and am wondering how to change/fill the front axle oil. The operator's manual tells me what the capacities are for the left and right axle and for the differential, but I do not know if there is a level plug for either. How do I know when they're full? Also, is the drain plug underneath for both the left and right axle? Do both axles have a single reservoir?

Also, what is a good repair manual for this tractor and where can I get one?

Thanks in advance.

I serviced the front axle on my '78 L185DT last week. I didn't find a level plug on it anywhere. I just measured out the correct amount of oil for each outer drive and the differential.

Outer drive drain plugs are located on each side behind the tires. There's a fill plug on the top of each outer drive as well. (It might be easier to the tire off for easier access.)

The drain plug for the differential is in the center and the fill plugs are located on each side of the differential.

Each plug is a 17mm except the differential fill plugs, they're 22mm.

Service Manuals; I downloaded one from ServiceManualVault.com for less than $5.00. I also bought one from my local Kubota dealer for $90.28, Part Number 97897-10510. I don't know why, but they're two different manuals. What one lacks, the other fills in in.
