Good evening.
I have read I can not post any pictures untill I made 5 posts. So words wil have tot do for now...

Probably it is a stupid question but my Japanese is as rusty as yay olde axe...

Right, lets get to it :) On my old grey Kubota L1802DT ( or US L 235 ) I have found a little tab / vosset that comes out of the chasis. Positioned up front, on the side al the way down on the right side (operaters vieuw). It is straight below the radiator... This makes me think its the coolant tab... but I canot see any tubes attached to the tab because the vieuw is obscured by the chasis. I do not want to disturb a tab that has not been used for how many years just to find out whats the purpose is for... and then when I know the purpose it does not close properly and won t stop leaking haha.

Who knows the purpose of the little mistery tab?

Not familiar with your tractor, but what you describe may be a "whistle" that was used to indicate an engine running too hot. If that is what it is it should have a overflow tube coming down from the radiator and connected to it.

Found it thank to your help! It the coolant drain. So today drained the coolant, flushed out the whole system and give it some new coolant. Tomorrow its going to be a big day for the tractor. New oil, new oil filter, new air filter, new diesel filter, new exauhst manufold, new exhoust pipe and manufold and exauhst gaskets :) (that is... if the UPS guy comes :D )

Also got a new hydraulics filter... Not sure what happens when I unscrew the old one... will all the oil start to run out... probably...

If you don't intend to change the hydro fluid you can use the old shop vac trick to minimize fluid loss. Look on YouTube and there are several examples of this procedure, most are for oil changes but hydro is the same principle. There are also some discussions on this board about it too. Better to have two people also.

If the hydraulic filter is a spin on filter and located up near the pump (side of the engine), you will not lose much at all, yes just spin it off and replace, no prefilling of the filter. ;)
