Hello everyone.
I'm here on behalf of a friend who has large place in the country and a newly refurbished Kubota L1801 DT Tractor, 17hrs on the clock.

I have no experience with tractors, but I like to think I am mechanically minded. How ever hard I try, I can only seem to get a maximum top speed of about 1mph. A slow steady walk. Reading the manual it suggest 2.4mph in L range and 11 in the H range. I get now where near that.

1. Put in 4/8th gear
2. Put in High Range (I know it's in high range, as it goes even more slowly in L)
3. Put in 2WD
4. Operate at 3000 RPM.

Looking at how fast the tractor goes, it's not even going 2.4mph in low.

The company that refurbished it has since ceased trading.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ston.

When you put it high gear and get it rolling and depress the brakes hard, does it stall the engine or does the tractor stop and the engine run at rated speed?

Maybe you have another transmission you're not getting out of low? You might have it in the Tiller "gear".

Mine is similar to meanjeans.
If i put rear and front gears in low-low and put it into transmission 4th gear, even at wide open throttle i can get off and back on tractor like it was stopped. At idle and low low low,you wouldnt know it was moving.

Thanks for the replies guys, I was hoping to re visit my friends last week and have another look at the the Tractor, but bad weather forced a stay at home.

Good thinking with the crawler gear, I'll see if I can get some photos.
