I have an L 1501.
The starter is freshly rebuilt by a reputable shop.
I have to clean the ground cable connection on the frame to be able to start the tractor.
My question is ....what is the proper ground location?
Thank you in advance.

MeanJean,
Poor grounding is a common issue for these little tractors?

I had the starter rebuilt because I thought it was bad!
Thank you MeanJean

Always start with the cheapest, and easiest fix first.

Vic
I figured that was the factory spot.
I removed my battery tray the other day and found the broken end of the original ground wire.
Its now grounded off the engine.

thank you for the pics Service Dept Vic.... I relocated the ground to the engine block...as suggested by meanjean... didn't work same condition click click click.....started looking at the battery....to small and it is very old....I am going to get a 850 + CCA.
I boosted with my truck and the thing fired up...
Thank you both for your advice and I do need to remember to K.I.S.S things more...keep it simple stupid!

Next question:
Smoke from a rectangular box with two mounting ears ...behind the fuel tank you can see it with the hood up.
After rolling the key on to let the bat charge was when i saw the smoke...I think it is part of wire harness #2 34150-34320.
Thanks again!
