Hello,

I'm buying a 2010 KX71-3 tomorrow and was wondering if anyone had any tips, tricks or advice for the 300 hour service. I have all Kubota Brand filters.
I am going to change engine oil and filter then use Rotella 15w-40
Change fuel filter element
Change both hydraulic oil fliters
Change final drive oil using Super Tech 75W-90 Synthetic Blend
Grease all the fittings

The 2 things I am most concerned with are the hydraulic filters being in the tank and loosing any o rings or parts I may not be aware of.

From what I understand the final drives hold one quart and it appears they may have a drain and a fill?

I don't have possesion of it yet to look it over good but plan on going for it as soon as I get it so figure I would ask now in hopes of preventing a screw up or major time setback.

Once I'm done I am going to run it 7 miles on a snowmachine trail to a remote piece of land I bought and then store it for a few months until the ground thaws. It has a canopy so I plan trying to get the tracks off the ground, tarp it and put 911 in the fuel. Not sure what else I can do???

Matt, Looks like you are doing good. pull all the covers over valves and controls wash/blow out all dirt look for leaks.WSM has details on finial drive fluid replacement .Good idea using M1 in final drives ,think I will do the same next maintenance cycle.(cheap insurance for a $4000 replacement drive) expect about 2qts of fuel per hour when working. Do you have a thumb?

I'm going to put it in my buddies shop tonight to warm up and service it in the moring. I hear it is a pretty messy job changing the engine oil.

Have you ever blown any hoses? I was thinking of getting a few sets of screw in hose fittings of different sizes for emergency splice repair. I'm going to have to fly in to use it and if I can't scab it together temporarily it's $450 for a plane to bring me parts. I would buy extra hoses if I could predict which ones would blow but I'm not much of a hose psychic. The hose making tools are pretty damn expensive. I could pay for a few plane trips to fly me in hoses for the price of one.

Never have blown a hose.. so far. But I have bent a bucket pin, the pressure to thumb should be less than bucket. the bucket should over power the thumb. Not so much changing the oil as the filter its a tight fit best to remove some of the shields to get to it.

Keep porcupines away from it they will eat your hoses, tracks and belts anything with rubber.

mine does just fine walking on snow -depending on snow just acts like a 2 track snowcat until you hit a grade then spins out.

Well I serviced it and got it in 7 miles. Servicing was easy but not the trail. It took me 9 hours. I was on 4' of snow n broke through the trail 3 times and had to leap frog 4 sheets of plywood in several spots n strapped bucket to my freight sled to disperse weight and have my snowmachine help pull.

How do you keep porcupines away? I am concerned with bears too. They like chewing on anything you touch. I hear ammonia may work or an electic fence if you have a power source.
