Kubota V2203 swap

I just finished swapping a V2203 out of a reefer into a New Holland LX665. I'm working on getting the governor to respond as a variable speed, not a constant. Do I need to change the springs? Currently, it has one large spring. I have looked up a tractor and a skid loader that have a 2203 in and it looks like there are 3 springs. If anyone has come across the same issue, please let me know what helps.

The governor could be the problem some reefer engines ran at one speed and one speed only.

Problem is I think you have to change more than springs (but I am no expert).

Most reefer engines are a variable RPM engine and governor, they just use a actuator to go to full RPM on cooling activation.
There are some exception to this, there were 2 different use scenarios that used fixed RPM engine.
There was an all electric unit, and there were some early fixed RPM units.


Generator engines are also ones that I know of that are a fixed RPM governor.

Will need to know if it's an IDI or DI engine as the governor and throttle springs are set up differently on each.

Thank you for the reply. This is an IDI engine, and as mentioned earlier, it has the full range of RPM, but when returning to idle, it won't go below 1400 RPM. I've removed the covers and it appears there isn't one to help return to idle. From what I can see, it looks like the original hole may have been cut out. Is there a way to add a new hole or find an alternative location for this spring?

Ok lets start with Square one.
Kubota made a ton of variation of the V2203
V2203 M
V2203 G
V2203 A
V2203 E
And then all of these variations had sub set models and were offered in IDI and DI.

Look at the valve cover for a label that will have a ton of information.
Then look on the flat just to the side of the injection pump for the full serial number.

My applogies @Russell King was not completely wrong, Some Reefer units used a generator to power an all electric reefer unit, they are incredibly rare, but that unit used a BG model V2203 to power the generator.
And some older compressor units ran a fixed speed (1800RPM) unit.

Once you can get me more info the better I can help you.

The serial number is 01N4275 I now see on one of the stickers it says DI. I have attached the pictures. Thanks for the help.
