I recently bought a used BX2660 with 160 hours on it. The dealer told me I have to use Kubota oil in this tractor. Is this true?
Thanks.

Its kinda like your Harley dealer telling you that only Harley oil will work in your bike,,, The truth as I know it is that ANY good grade of oil desigined for that applacation will work just fine. Be it AMSOIL or Mobil or RED LINE,, just make sure the oil fits the useage.

As long as the oil meets the requirments set by Kubota, you will be fine. Including meeting warranty requirements. Oil is oil, if it is rated correctly for your tractor. That's why there are standardized ratings.
I hate to say it, because it can be a foreshadow of future relationships, but your dealer is jerking your chain.
Welcome to OTT, by the way!

The only way any manufacturer can require you to use their product is if the give it to you for free. You are protected by law, Magnuson Moss Act.

Maybe he was talking about the hydraulic fluid for the transmission? UDT and Super UDT seem to work the best. I've read about people trying to substitute diferent oils in it's place, but not getting the same or satisfactory performance from it. Kubota's seem to be sensitive to that particular oil.

Engine wise, use whatever meets factory spec. I use Mobile Delvac 15-40 in mine

That's when TSC, Wally world or other of the cheapest oil that can be found is used in the place of SUDT.

I use Chevron DELO 400 15/40 in everything engine wise. Have for 50 years. It is formulated for diesel and heavy duty gas engines, originally for stationary large diesels. I use a SUDT in NAPA brand. It has the same spec as the Kubota product per the shop manual. Every thing in my BX25 works smooth and quiet.

Brand name dealers have to improve their bottom line. Accessory products pay the utility bills. margin on tractors and equipment are slim these days. NAPA's fleet discount brings their lower price down another 40-45%. But my filters there also.

Reviving an old thread.... Messicks has an excellent video comparison of NAPA versus Kubota filters. (The engine oil filter comparison video is especially useful in showing inferior aftermarket versus OEM filters. Be sure to visit the engine oil filter video.) PLUS...NAPA hydraulic filters are 25% MORE than Kubota filters. (skip the intro and go to the 2-1/2 min area: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ceb3KOwa9R4
