I have a 1996 Kubota M7030SUDT that I changed the hydraulic fluid and filter on recently. Hydraulics were working, a bit slow, before the change but not at all after. I did not fill the new filter before installing but when the hydraulics didn’t work, I took it off, filled it and reinstalled—hydraulics still didn’t work. Even though it doesn’t call for the pump to be primed, I thought that may be my problem. The suction line is below the pump so I couldn’t prime from that and took the pressure line off and have been putting in hyd fluid for the past few weeks. It takes a few drops to fill opening and about a day to drop for more can be put in. It appears to not drop any more now, so I think the pump is primed and fluid is as full as possible in filter and lines. I tap the suction line and it sounds full all the way up to the inlet above the filter. I am ready to start the tractor to see if the hydraulics work now but wanted any see if anyone had any ideas of what else to do since priming the pump took several weeks and I don’t want to have to do that again if there is something else I should do before starting. Thanks

You have done everything I would do. I have used white grease on the suction side of the pump rather than oil. You can pack a grease into the pump and generally it will prime. This typically is an indication that your pump is getting tired.

The pump had enough oil in it to prime after the first addition. Do you have a loader or remotes on that tractor?

Would the white grease not mess up the new hydraulic oil?

Yes, there is a loader, 3pt and rear remotes. I have not started to see if they worked since priming the pump. Prior to priming, nothing worked and I moved the controls quite a bit to try to get any air out. It just wasn't pumping any oil.

Test it and see what you have now.
