Hello,

i hope i can get some help here, my tractor is EU model but im sure it is quite same as USA models. Sorry but English is not my native language, i know what i learned from movies :)

I recieved a brand new Kubota M4072. The tractor is 36F/36R speed model with electric clutch acutator on gear shifter and also electronic gear reduction (im not sure about correct English name, but when you press this button it alters gear ratio by 20%). There are 3 main speed ranges, creep (snail), working (turtle) and transport (rabbit). This control is pretty u predictable and hard to shift. Manytimes it jumps between its three available positions and you end with false neutral or gear grind most of the times. While in transport range the tractor upshifts okay, but impossible to downshift. If you try to downshift you cannot sellect any gear anymore. Until the tractor is fully stopped, you can then put in any gear and go away. If you try to hold the gear shifter pressed to any gear on downshift it Will eventually jump into that gear and grind.

Dealer has no idea, they asked Kubota and have gotten a response the syncromesh needs time to "wear im". Im not sold on this idea due to todays manufacturing technology and its precision. Also on creep or working range the gear shifts are smooth, precise and perfect. In transport range, the downshift is impossible.

What could be my problem?

I'm totally unfamiliar with your situation. In my experience with tractors you select gears from a dead stop. If you find you selected the wrong gear for your purpose you stop the tractor, select the proper gear, and set it back in motion. I've not seen a tractor with a synchronized transmission.

Hello, the transmission is fully synchronized. Most modernn tractors are synchronized

they're synchronized but those gears are big, and heavy. With weight comes inertia. It takes a while to slow them down or speed them up which is what the synchronizers do. Don't expect it to shift like a sports car because it won't happen.

I dont expect it to shift Like a sports car, but expect to get a shift without grinding, or to get it to shift at all. The tractor is going back to Kubota next week, they Will try to figure it out. Tested other same tractors, they shift perfect. I guess i just got one of a million with defective gearbox
