I recently bought a pre emissions 2012 L3800 with from a dealer in Georgia that said the tractor had "only" 208 hrs on the tach. After delivery to SD I found the tach, temp, and fuel guages didnt work. The tractor and backhoe work OK, but the low hours are miss leading since the tach doesnt work.
I would appreciate any help to get everything working again.

First I'd check the fuses and wiring.
Remove the panel and check for water / corrosion on the terminals.

Here's a thread about replacing a tach cable. It may help in removing the panel.

If there is a mechanical cable (I have no idea either way) then that cable might be broken on the inside.

You can get to the back of the tachometer and disconnect the cable. Start engine and see if the cable spins. Just be careful that the cable won’t be able to damage anything. That at least tells you the cable drive system is working.

Then find the engine end of the cable and disconnect it. Reconnect the tach end. Then using a drill attached to the motor end internal drive cable, see if the tach will show any movement. Don’t run the drill at speeds that are above the tach highest speed.

If the tach doesn’t move then it is the cable or the tach. I would recommend replacing the cable and seeing if the tach works. But you may be able to pull the inner drive cable out of the sheath to make sure it is broken or damaged somewhere.

The tachometer itself can be replaced or repaired but repair is probably for a professional to do. That would be some automotive repair place that specializes in old mechanical dashboards.

Good Luck!

My “best guess” is it’s something electrical.

Just because I think that all of that other stuff failing AND the tach cable failing at the same time, would be “very coincidental”…….But I have seen some strange sh1t before, so I guess its possible.

I would start with the typical trouble shooting of electrical…...

1) fuses/breakers

2) grounds

3) broken/chewed/chaffed/cut/disconnected/or green wires

My opinion is to grab a copy of the WSM and see if/what they all have in common…..like a ground or something…...

EDIT; Oh and welcome to the forum. 🍻
