Hi just currently working on my L3650 and have taken the side panel off my transmission and then proceeded to take off my gate valve out and i accidentally took the shuttle shift spool right out of the valve and had the ball and spring fell out , I was just about to put it the ball and spring back in the valve when I noticed another ball and broken spring in the bottom of the transmission . Just wondering if there is another ball and spring that goes in somewhere with this transmission ,I have checked on the service manual and cant seem to find anything , any help would be appreciated

Something is not adding up.
That does not look like any valve in a L3650.
Wanna go out and get the model number off the tractor again.
And or the serial number too.

Is it a DT or a GST?

Its a GST , it has the transmission with the opening for it on the side instead of on top , just havent been able to get much information about it anywhere

Oh my and HAHAHA!
1: Your valve pic is upside down and backwards, really threw me for a loop.
2: Your description is perfectly right but the parts manual is a little off which also threw me.

I can tell you just about every detail of that transmission, I rebuilt my L3450 GST 4 times and It's the exact same trans as yours.

Why are you in it?
The more details the better I can help.

This is the view I would have expected.
Yes I have a spare one of those valves just hanging around.

PTO shift rod is another location for that same ball and spring type setup.

Page S.3-57 in the WSM has a breakdown of that valve.
Also all the other valves.
One word of warning: DO NOT open up or mess with the adjustment of the modulator valve.
They do not list the internal parts and it took me many tries to get the right O-rings.
Then it takes weeks of messing with it to get it adjusted properly!

Awesome thanks, that is exactly where it came from , i was wondering why the pto shifter felt off , thanks again I really appreciate it.

The reason I pulled the transmission is a couple weeks ago I was blowing snow and ran into a huge piece of wood , it caused the pto to make a huge bang and then kicked the pto off (the shear pin on the blower never broke)it also caused the tractor to sputter and run really rough , also it caused the tractor to not move forward or reverse and no hydraulics would work. I then shut the tractor off for a couple minutes turned it back on and it was running normai and able to move, however the pto would be on but not actually turning however you could hear it turning inside the transmission. I just assumed it was the slip clutch inside the transmission that went and was thinking that it needed replaced (however before i took the blower off the tractor I turned the pto on and it worked for a couple minutes but then it stopped however the pto shifter was on and you could hear it turning inside the transmission) So after getting the transmission apart I could see the slip clutch was fine and all gears were fine , the main gear had one tooth on it that was a little chipped but all the other teeth were fine , the only part that needs repaired is the spring that goes with the ball for the pto shifter .
So as of right now I am going to put it back together and keep my fingers crossed and hope it works
