I am not highly skilled or experienced but am attempting to do a leaking hydraulic cylinder repair on my venerable L245DT tractor. However, the cylinder "cap nut" on the leaking bucket tilt cylinders I am trying to work on spins freely when I turn it with a pipe wrench - in BOTH directions! The nut does not appear to travel in or out. Am I missing something or is there some damage likely to the nut or cylinder causing this? FYI, the identical "cap nut" on the other side of the tractor tightens and loosens normally. (The threaded nut travels in and out.)
The picture below shows the nut in question as bottom most fitting before the exposed shaft.
This is an L1700 series loader bucket. (Model # 1200 I believe.)
I really hope one of your generous, expert forum members can offer me some guidance and wise council!

Sounds like the threads are stripped.

I recall some of the cylinders not having threaded end caps, but a pin that is driven in/out to hold/release the end cap.

I looked up parts diagram for an L1700 model loader.

This is what I found for the bucket cylinder.

Looks possible given the "slot" you have near the hydraulic line connection.

Looks like #13 could be that pin? They call it "Seal Kit" but sure looks like it has another purpose?

No experience, so not much help beyond that.

Bernie - - I looked here.

Kubota Tractor Corporation - Illustrated Parts List

I used L1700 as the Loader Model - - not sure that's correct.

I downloaded the loader manual:

The cylinder head does not unscrew. It is held on by an internal snap ring. The manual explains how you remove it.

Thank you Dan and RCW! Great team work! Between the two of you I think you've completely answered my questions and given me a good path forward. The manual for the loader appears to be the exact match to the loader I have and is pure gold. Many thanks for the generous, expert help!
