I have a kubota GF1800 4WD mower that has been great. Started making some noise in the pto and hydraulic pump this year. It had stripped a shaft and the one way clutch in the pto housing was chewed up. Found a bad bearing that I believe was the culprit and I have replaced everything but cannot get the one way clutch installed to save my life. When I finally did get it installed it wouldn’t allow the shaft the turn either direction by hand. All sprag/one way clutches I have installed in the past allow the shaft to turn one way by hand and not the other so I took it back apart and am at a loss. It is also the tightest fit one way clutch I have ever seen. I have seen some old threads where people mention they installed them but no one mentions it being difficult to install. I will try to attach pics. Thanks

I forgot to mention I did take it to my dealer and their service department had no help to offer and stated they have never installed one.

How are the surfaces in the boss and the shaft?
Some sprag bearings require you to roll them the release direction while inserting to set them properly.

The surfaces are smooth and I have tried rolling the sprag but cannot get it to hold in place to install the way the cage is made. I did get it installed once but everything was so tight it didn’t seem right. I couldn’t turn the shaft in either direction. I was worried I would strip the shaft out as soon as I engaged the PTO. I have never seen one that tight.
