Does anyone have experience with the new "easy over mower deck"? This is the model that allows you to drive over the deck to install it. It is model # RCK540-26BX-1. I have watched the videos of how to drive over and attach it to the tractor and also remove it from the tractor. My questions are do they work as well as the videos show? I am looking for real-world experiences with this mower deck.

Well mine is a bit different, but I have a drive over deck on my B2620 and I love it. Been taking on and off since 2013. No dragging it out and can do it on the lawn or gravel driveway. I'd never buy a mid mount that's not a drive over. Most time consuming part is raising the 4 gauge wheels.

After watching the video( hmm,ONLY show getting on not off..), I prefer my 'dedicated mower' method. Getting too old and unagile to mess with finiky stuff at ground level. rider mower was cheaper than deck for my BX23S btw....
At then end of video ' another video .drive over mower deck' shows BX23s(?) WITH Loader and BH still on ! Now mowing grass with all that mass on seems, well, ... 'wrong'......
end of the day...if you're happy fine, just not my cup of tea.

The drive over decks do eliminate sliding the deck back and forth but you still need to get on your hands and knees to connect attaching points and drive shaft, which for this old man is the reason I went to a dedicated lawnmower

When I took mine off I had to lay a couple boards behind the front wheels to help it climb over the deck. Otherwise the deck wanted to slide.

I have a few gas lawn tractors too, but the gas they use to mow my yard once, my B2620 can do it 13 times on the same 5 gallons of fuel.

Its not bad once you figure it out, use 4wd other wise things move, and I also use a couple 2x4s screwed together and cut on a slope, I think it makes mounting a bit easyer, but my 2601 might be different than the BX

Exactly.

connecting/disconnecting the driveshaft is the only slight pain.
Otherwise Drive over decks are a Gimmick.

And to Greenville Jays point, Of course you never want to mow the lawn with the loader/hoe on...

But that said,
At the end of the year... Or whenever you take the MMM off,

The loader makes it simple.
lift the front end up with the loader and slide the mower sideways....

If you really want to make it easy, Use the loader AND the backhoe stabilizers.... you can lift the entire tractor off the ground.

A gimmick until you are on a coarse gravel driveway and you have to pull your deck out the side.
But if you only do it once a year maybe, but mine comes off after every time I mow because then my tractor is doing dirt work. and it sure is nice to just drive over it.

I have a ZTR but like me, it is old and tired. I just don't like having to store an extra machine when I already have too many other items that need to be undercover.

With some plywood, you could make it a snowplow! :ROFLMAO:
F units are incredible, they give very close to the speed and maneuverability of a Z .
But the versatility to do so much more.
You can use mutiple mower types on them.
Reel, rotary, flail, brush, sickle.
And mutiple other attachments,
Snow blower
Broom
Blade
Leaf blower
Grass / leave collector
Land plane
Rubber broom
Grader blade

Just think of a B backwards on steroids and a really fast PTO. ;)

If you have a lot of lawn a lot of trees, or a lot of small spaces and obstacles a tractor with a mower deck will leave you disliking it in a quick hurry.
Even with the loader off it's still no where close to the maneuverability of a Z.

Now if you have a normal amount to cut, not a lot of low hanging trees and a fairly wide open plan then you'll probably love it.

For me I have a lot to mow, 3+ acres with all sorts of obstacles, 100's of trees to run under and around, so going from a ride on mower to a Zero turn was a huge game changer.
I still have a brush hog and a flail to do the rougher sections from time to time.

The idea of the drive over deck sounds appealing.

I'm thinking that I will look into something like the F series with a flip up deck and 4WD when the time comes.

Cat's meow but expensive.

I have no experience with the BX series decks but do have extensive experience with an older so-called "drive-over" terrain following deck for my B1750.

I find it MUCH easier to R & R the deck on a concrete floor from the right side rather than attempting to drive over the deck, regardless of surface.

Simply CANNOT drive over the deck (FWD or otherwise) without wooden cribbing "steps" as deck simply rolls away, concrete floor or otherwise. Rather, I drive tractor onto a single layer of 2X6s or 2x8s (4) and roll deck out on concrete floor from the right side. I can remove the deck in about 15 minutes and attach it in about 20.

Not a fan of so-called drive-over decks.

The older drive over decks were a lot more cumbersome and clunky than the newer ones. ;)

I think there's two sorts of drive over deck.

The B series (my B2601) has a drive over deck that is literally that. A deck you can drive over. It's a bit stronger. I find it way easier than skidding the deck out sideways, as I normally take the deck off on grass, not on concrete.

The BX series has a drive over deck that also has an auto engagement mechanism. I understand dealers don't love these, as they're a bit finicky to adjust, and they go out of adjustment. When they work they're good, when they don't they're frustrating.

I only have experience with the B-series drive over. The BX series drive over came out after I'd already sold my BX, but I don't think I'd have bought one. I think the ramps also have a reputation for rattling.

Ideally I'd want one with a cab for winter snowblowing buy I have too many trees and lower branches. The new F series are expensive but so are the new commercial Z's.
