Kubota DEAD

Hello, I have a B7610 HSD. It was working great. Turned it off. Got off of it for about 5 minutes. Got back on and it is dead. No lights on the console, just totally dead. Thought maybe there is something out of place like the PTO. Checked everything. I thought maybe the 30amp fuse blew, it is a little black but has continuity. Checked safety switches. Still nothing. Cleaned the battery terminals and the cables, tightened down the cables, nothing. Except for that now, even with the key out and the switch removed from the plug, as I was checking it as well, the moment I put the negative terminal on the battery, the starter solenoid freaks out. The starter will not engaged, and the tractor is totally dead. What is going on? The solenoid spins, makes noise like it is trying to work, but that is the only sign of life on my tractor.

Motors spin, solenoids have a linear motion and usually make a clicking sound. What is the battery voltage? Does it drop when you connect the ground? 1st thing I would check is where the ground connects to frame or engine (clean & tight).

Hook up jumper cables to a fully charged battery, ground on tractors battery ground and tap the jump cable on the solenoid nut that goes to the starter.. if it spins, that will tell you if your solenoid is bad or if its the starter motor.. if nothing happens check the ground cable on the tractor frame.. and repeate..

****make sure the key is off, and or fuel stop lever is pulled.. and it's in neutral.. **

Thanks for getting back with me guys and Happy Easter.

at i7win7 I did just that and no luck. Full charge on the battery.

at bx tractorjoe Also tried that. The bendix on the starter responds correctly when I go straight from the battery to the starter. So I'm thinking both work???

defective ignition switch. Check with your dealer to find out if they have had your model tractor develop ignition switch problems. Usually if you have a problem like that, so did someone before you. Also check to see if there is a main wire harness fuse that is usually located new the oil filter on the older BX tractors, and your B might be similar.

Also the starter works perfectly fine when I connect it straight to be battery. It seems as if there are two issues. One that has the tractor dead, and the other that something has the solenoid working the whole time.

There are two 30 amp fuses but they will look totally different.

The main fuse is a SLOW BLOW type.

The other 30 amp fuse is a traditional automotive style and it powers the engine stop solenoid.

The slow blow fuse will be located near the starter solenoid.

Remove the slow blow fuse and check it for continuity,

Check the fuse socket for 12 volts on one side.

Hey everyone. Wanted to let you know I solved the issue. Not sure how, but the tractor works. All I did was remove all the wires and cables from the starter, and took the starter out. I was just double checking everything and decided to give up for the evening. I put the starter back in and plugged everything back and the tractor worked. Go figure. Thanks everyone for taking the time to help. Hope I don't have to anytime soon, but I know where to come back for help. Everyone have a great evening.

The starter relies on physical contact with the engine block to get its ground connection.

Sometimes the two mating surfaces rust to the point of interfering or weakening the starter's ground stopping it from working reliably
