Have a chance to purchase a 4672A 3 point backhoe. Is this too large for my tractor? What size can it handle.

When I bought my BX1870 I was told that only the BX25 (which comes with a backhoe from the factory) was backhoe capable; but I never pulled on that string to find out more.

A "3 point backhoe" is a very poor idea.......for ANY size tractor!
A backhoe hung on a 3 point system is very likely to rip the top link (casting) connection out of your tractor.

There is a long history of this occurring, though some do beat the odds, if digging carefully, and in light soil.
Cracking the top of that casting is guaranteed to create a MAJOR expense!

You should mount a backhoe on a subframe only!

You have not told us what size tractor you have.

That said: a "3 point backhoe" is a very poor idea.......for ANY size tractor!

Too large for a BX. I have it’s slightly larger sister for my B2919. BL4690A if I remember right. Either one was an option for me.

edit: Proper installation of the three point hitch backhoe on my B 2910 included a heavy duty top link bracket to prevent the issue that fried1765 mentioned. I’ve dug a lot of dirt with my three point hitch backhoe, and a lot of stumps as well over the last 18 years or maybe almost 20 years now. They can work, but they have to be installed properly. No doubt that a sub frame is much much better.
