Hi, I'm new to this forum and Kubota world. Have had a few compact tractors before, but recently bought a used Kubota B2650 (manual transmission and only with rear pto) with a litlle over 400h service, always assisted in the official dealer. I'm very pleased with this tractor operation but have some doubts on the pto operation.

With engine stopped, pto disengaged, pto shaft won't turn. Think it's normal since it has a pto brake.

Engine stopped, pto engaged, pto shaft also won't turn.

Engine running, pto engaged and pto shaft turns. Normal operation but when I select any gear on the manual transmission (front or rear movement) and release clutch, it seams that tractor is moving with brakes applied (and when I depress clutch, the tractor stops right away, as if handbrake was still pushed). With pto disengaged trator moves normally and when clutch is depressed movement continues for a few.

Could this be the normal behavior when pto is engaged? Or could be the pto brake not being released?

Local dealer says it's normal, but I would like to ear opinions from other owners.

Thanks

When you engage the PTO with tractor in neutral, do you hear the engine load increase when you let out on the clutch? (With nothing attached to the PTO output)

All I find is hydrostatic transmission in the B2650. Are you referring to the HML range shift as shifting the transmission?

Yes, in Europe (not only Portugal) there are manual transmission, no HST. In this model and in many others from different makers.

No, engine load remains the same when pto is engaged and releasing the clutch in neutral (there are no variation on engine rpm)

He's in Portugal, B2650 (no HST or HST) may be a thing there?
This WSM page screenshot shows a manual tranny B2650 ROPS variant:

Must be a non-USA model. There is a WSM at www.kubotabooks.com. There are models with independent PTO with hydraulic clutch and mechanical PTO with manual shift. I assume OP's is the latter. If so, there appears to be some external linkage that could be out of whack. Wishing OP good luck.
