Hey rebuilding my front axle on my 1975 B 6100 F.W.D
# 1 I have bought all the seals and gaskets but the new wiper for the ball (I don't know what to call it ) has a flat side and an indented side that the original does not have.
What side faces the ball?
#2 what gear oil should be in the final drive?
I have been using synthetic 75-90 but every year the oil in the final drive looks black. The oil from the front differential as clean as the day I put it in.
With everything disassembly I have not found a gear or bearing worn enough to replace.
If there information on rebuilding one of thees older front axles with king pins I have not found it in my searches. Any help would be appreciated.
BTW I use this about 20 hours a year for snow blowing
