Well my friends i think I've gone and messed things up. What started with removing snow on the driveway turned into a repair expedition. I hit a hockey puck and after breaking a sheer pin I noticed the FAN blades were quite bent and some of the steel around the fan opening was bent. The machine started to make a clunking noise when blowing snow.

My idea was to pull the shaft out so that I could work on re bending the FAN or buying a new FAN and installing it. I uncoupled the entire auger from both sides and the mount that attaches to the top of the gearbox. I then removed the gears from the back of the fan that connect the PTO to the FAN shaft. I could not for the life of me get the bearing holder to budge. I removed one set screw and the second is non existant. My next bright idea was to hit the end of the shaft with a mini sledge trying to get it to remove from the bearing so I could get the fan out. I did this because I did not want to tear apart the gearbox to get the shaft out.

Now I am left with a mushroomed shaft head(The side that the gear wheel attaches to) and I still cannot remove the shaft from this bearing/ bearing holder. I have attached some pictures. Any ideas would be great. I know I will probably have to buy a new shaft and open the gear box to replace it. How on earth does one remove these bloody bearings?

That black ring may be an eccentric locking ring. Does it have a hole on the circumference? If it does, take a punch and hammer and try to get it to rotate on the shaft. If it won't turn one way, try the other way. I believe they are usually locked in the direction opposite of normal rotation, so you would unlock in the direction of normal rotation. It could also possibly be a set screw locking collar so take a look in the hole for a set screw.

Thanks for the reply. There are actually two holes, one for a set screw and the other looks like its a stripped set hole screw but I don't see any threads on the outside so maybe it is a set screw locking collar. Ill go have a look

The bearing is indeed locked to the shaft using an eccentric collar, as was suggested. Only one hole was ever threaded; the other is to lock or unlock it.

Your blower is actually a BX2750D, and there is also a serial number break to get the correct parts.

Update. I used a dremel to get rid of the mushrooming on the end of the shaft. the second hole was just for getting a punch in there to get it to rotate so that worked beautifully to get it to come off. I then used a bearing puller to get the bearing off. I will need a new bearing but at least now I can work on getting a new fan installed and bending back all of the bent metal.

Now as far as the re install goes I am hoping Once i install everything it should line up close to back where it was, but are there any tips for bearing positioning and stuff like that? Any tricks for lining up the gears?

eccentric collar lock bearings lock in the same direction of rotation opposite of what most think. just for your information that bearing is a sa205-16 and most farm and fleet / tractor supply stores have them in stock.
