I pulled the trigger on a 5/16 SSQA plate before the tariffs raise prices so I can mount an old plow blade I had. The blade was from a Craftsman GT6500 and I originally welded a 2” receiver tube to it and bolted a 2” receiver on my bucket. It worked really well but I felt it put a lot of stress on the FEL raising and lowering it - bouncing around like it did even with chains.

So I bolted a wall-mount hitch to the SSQA plate so I can take it off the plate if (when) I get some pallet forks. As others have mentioned the plate was about ¾” from the pins so I just welded on spacers to take up the slack. Since I didn’t shorten the plate I had to grind it to clear the FEL stand adjustment bolts, sits nice and flat now.

And of course no project I do can be completed without spilling some BLOOD!!! I decide that it would be a good idea to grind a slot in my fingernail just deep enough to bleed a river. Right through my welding glove.

Got it done just in time for all the snow to melt (told the wife it’s like shark repellent, it must work because you don’t see any sharks around here do you?). Now I’ll wait for a nice day to clean it up and apply primer and paint.

Nice job on the plow...

Wheels on my finishing mower were getting worn out, still have some life left but decided to buy a couple of replacements now since it will never be cheaper to buy than today!!! Tariffs and what not...
