My steel dealer, close by closed down lately (Boulevard sales, Elkridge, MD). So I decided to take a 100 mile trip, over to DE, to steel and metal liquidators, and their parent co, in NJ, Joseph Fazzio. All I really needed was a coupla pieces of 1/8X2"cold rolled, to beef up some cross members, but it was rainin pretty good, and I wanted to charge up the battery in the duckodor, anyway...
I haven't ben over there since the crash of '08, so I wasn't sure of what I'd find. DE store hasn't changed much 'cept they don't sell much used or surplus stuff, anymore... The NJ store, on the other hand is really 3 stores, now, 1 surplus, 1 steelyard, and a new industrial hardware store, about the size of your average HD, or Lowe's...
4hrs of driving and 3 hrs of walking on concrete, most of the time, had my left hip and knee hurtin so bad, that when I got home, I popped one of the hydrocodones, I had left from a dental extraction, a coupla years ago. I did see 2 kubota engines in crates, at the surplus store, so this ain't entirely OT...
I usedta go over there 2x a year, but man that drive and walk crap is wearin me out... Wish we had a decent steelyard, somewheres closer... On the good side, gas in NJ was $1.49, FULL SERVE...
