Michigan has been having straight temps average 28F below normal (32F) and most days a wind chill of zero or lower.

My L3301 went thru the regen cycle 10 hours ago, now 10 hours later the warning lights have poped on again for a regen.

Starting in the cold then I let it idle for about 15 minutes then throttle up.
I try to run the tractor at 18,000 rpms and not idle much at all. So I got to wondering if the cold temps had any thing to do with the tractor requireing a regen so soon after the last one?

Yes, colder temps have an effect on regens. The cold weather makes it harder for the engine to reach optimal operating temperatures.

I'm sure you've seen big rigs outfitted for winter up there with the covers over the grill to cut down on airflow through the radiator. The reason is to cut down on the cooling effect the cold weather has so the trucks can reach and maintain operating temperatures.

I believe Kubota recommends winter warmup at 50 percent rated rpm. I run mine for a few minutes at idle, then bump it up to around 1200-1500 rpms for warmup.

-8 below here with -21 below wind chill and a NW wind at only 3 MPH this morning per my weather station.

I still have wood inside for my furnace. Heat wave for Sunday forecast so I will resupply then.

Sorry to whine but this unusually cold stuff makes chores tough. Big horse didn't drink enough water (despite heated buckets) and I coincidentally had added a flake more of 1st cutting hay to his diet, and too cold to wet his hay outside, so he got colicky. There is a reason they call wild temperature fluctuations colic weather. So now I have to haul totes to the basement on a toboggan and wet the hay and soak it next to the furnace before hauling it back. Manure and bedding freezes in the carts and has to be chipped out to put in tractor bucket. No doubt if this was the norm we'd all have a different routine, but too late now.:(:(

I call the really cold periods "Breaking Weather", everything I touch breaks. You have to retrain yourself to not use force, especially on plastic items. Do things break down during cold weather more or is it just that it is more of a hassle? Gas dryer quit heating, checked the vent and broke it, plastic, when I pulled it to check for obstructions. Turned out to be the igniter, $10 part but now have to replace vent cap so another $10. And on it goes.

It is called global warming because the poles are warmer than normal.
Can't say I am a fan of -8 below with a -21below wind chill but I will take it before that stinking 90F with 94% humidity Michigan seems to get in the summer.

Spend days indoors then in a thong sitting in front of a box fan.

On like clearing snow away once in a while, you have to mow lawn in that stinking heat and humidity every week. Can't unbundle for that either.

Thanks, now I need some brain bleach to get rid of that mental image :rolleyes::p

Try mowing when it's 120 plus out with 90 percent humidity. Hence my investment in a zero turn :)

Back to the original topic. If you can find some card board that will slide down inside where your screen sits, you can cut a piece and slide it in place.

Gonna be trial and error to to figure out how much of the radiator needs to be blocked though.

So my tractor did start today. But it acted like. gasser running out of gas and quit. Let it set for about 20 minutes and it started again got it back down the 400' to with in 30 yards of the garage and it quit again and wouldn't start.
got my snow blower out and finished the drive and around the mail box.

Yes I had a pint of service fuel conditioner in 3/4 of a tank of fuel.

Fuel filter heater any one?

A PINT? What kind? What do the directions say? How old is the fuel in it? The kinds I have used a pint lasts several tanks. Your dpf filter might not like it, alternatively maybe you have algae from the summer clogging the filter, not gelled diesel.

Yup should do the trick, but what is ruber? Is it some thing like rubber?

I was looking at this one.

Our 3" filter heater offers 100 watts across a 9.5" x 3" tall silicone heating pad. It also includes 4" of velcro to secure the pad to the fuel filter. Power is provided by an included 12 gauge wire that's ready to be wired to onboard power. This filter heater is ideal for older Mercedes fuel filters, VW fuel filters, and any other similar sized fuel filters!

The ruber is probably a translation issue. The link I posted is coming from China
