Giving my Ironcraft flail mower a workout this year with all of the rain we've had in the northeast. Was working on mid-season maintenance and a couple things came up. I was greasing the two ends of the flail axle as it is referred to. When I grease the non-drive side, no grease comes out from inside the mower housing. I take it slow when I grease these ends and it seems like I get a little back pressure on this side and I stop. I then pull the grease fitting and re-install.

On the drive side, I take the same approach, but on this side grease will start coming out from inside the mower housing at that end. So I just stop when I see some grease flowing. Not sure what I should be seeing? Can't tell from the parts diagram as to whether there are seals that would leak grease to the inside? If so, is what I'm seeing on the drive side showing a blown seal or ok, just pushing some grease by it?

Second, haven't had to top of the gear box fluids, but figure I should have some on hand and maybe change it out later this season. Manual calls for "N46 drive & hydraulic dual-purpose oil or equivalent." I think I saw an N46 hydraulic oil at either O'Reilly's or Tractor Supply. Is this the type of fluid it calls for or maybe I can figure out the equivalent It looks like an ISO 46 VG is about the same as a 75W SAE gear oil. Maybe I'd be better of with a 75W gear oil instead of a 46 ISO VG hydraulic oil?
