My M-7030 has idiot lights instead of gauges and the oil pressure doesn't appear to be working. (wiring is a mess) I have found where the wire attaches to the block with a pipe type fitting and I presume there is just a pressure switch. I have not removed anything yet.

I would like to replace with a mechanical gauge. I am presuming I just remove the pipe fitting and replace with the fitting that comes with the gauge? Does that sound about right? And has anybody done it?

Thanks

Bill

not quite...
remove current oil pressure switch..
install a Tee fitting..
reinstall oil pressure switch
install gauge piping in the other part of the Tee...

The original oil pressure switch might go to some 'computer',so if it's NOT put back in,and operational, the tractor might not run....

As Jay mentioned ........... hook the light and the gauge up with a TEE.

Not sure what year your machine is - they go back to the mid 80's to almost 2000 ..........

On the B7100 series which has little to do with your M7030..... the pipe fittings are BSPT (British Standard Pipe threads) as opposed to good ol NPT .......(national pipe taper)

SO - the first thing you need to do it carefully remove the sensor ......... determine WHAT thread it is, find an adapter and a Tee and then hopefully connect all the pieces. And like most puzzles - you may have little space to do all of this in. But it is doable if you can get all the pieces!

If/when you get it run, and the gauge is hooked up - loosen the nut at the back of the gauge, start the tractor - this will allow the air to bleed out and then tighten the nut as the oil starts to drip. Kinda like bleeding after a fuel filter replacement.
