Ive been a long time member here but with my tractors. Always have seemed to be lots of folks here that really know the kubota products, as well as good with diesel maintenance. Figuring the issue I am seeing with my new RTV is very similar to if it were a 3 cyl diesel tractor. All sure looks near identical to my L3200 and L2501, just one less cylinder. Im an all my life diy person, not much cant do, but have done limited work on my diesels.

I bought a RTVX900 diesel in 2018 while I was still working. Bought for a 2nd home we have in the mtns to take up there when we retire. 15 run hours to date, so to say it has sat a lot is an understatement. Up until these last 18 months have ran it around the property every few months. Only kept it partial full and would change out the fuel every year with one of my tractors that gets run regular just to avoid any fuel issues due to minimum running..

A few days ago I went to try and run the rtv, found battery dead even though on a tender. Got New battery, turned over but wouldn't crank. After a few times of trying decided to check the fuel system. about 1/4 tank, pulled filter checked thought its new, confirmed fuel flow to the fuel pump (gravity situation on this one) Filled tank thinking maybe some how due to sitting lost fuel prime due to low level. Had that happen with my L3200 one time, took forever to get that one primed but finally did.

Loosened the fuel lines at the injectors cranked it over to look for fuel at the injectors. 1 & 2 had fuel come out but 3 never would. Pulled all the injector lines and looks for spray at the 3 injector pump ports, only ports 1&2 would spray. Pulled the check valve assembly below the line on #3, careful so as not to lose any spring etc that might be inside. (NEVER BUMPED ENGINE DURING THIS) blew air through the valve, flushed it a few times with cleaner, blew out again every time always a good spray. Put back into the injector pump. Once again turned over quite a bit, 1 & 2 spraying as they should, but still nothing will come out of port #3.

At a loss as to what to really try next. 15 hr engine, shouldn't be much, but obviously something not right due to this thing sitting up. Hoping someone out there with some injector pump experience well chime in with some ideas.

Thank for any and all info, assistance, etc.

It might be me but your post is hard to follow. Says it looks similar to your L3200 and L2501 with one less cylinder? Yet the RTV900 is 3 cylinder also?

If your getting fuel out of any of the injectors even just one it should run on that cylinder.

Sorry, did not mean to sound confusing. With this being a tractor forum, wanted to clearly explain this was not a tractor, rather a side by side UTV. But engine wise identical to my tractors.

The engine in the Kubota RTV is a 3 cyl diesel. Overall, mechanically looks identical to the engine that is in both the L3200 and the L2501 Tractors. 3200 and 2501 tractors are 4 cylinder diesels.

No, would not run with just 2 of the cyls pumping fuel. Would try, but would never quite light off.

FIXED, and will share what I did so if anyone else ever needs to know.

I went back out, after a short break. Using a gloved finger, covered the fuel port #3 at the injection pump that was not putting out any fuel. Working my finger up and down as I would feel that one attempt to pump. Allowing it to build pressure, but not release said pressure. At first nothing but after a few rotations starting feeling some sort of pressure on my finger, few more rotations that turned into fuel pressure.. I then reconnected the pipes to all 3 injectors, but left them loose at the injector. Turned over again until I saw fuel at all 3 injectors. Then it cranked.

Still confusing as both an L3200 and L2501 are 3 cylinder engines.

Glad it is fixed. I have also found that when bleeding the lines like that to have the throttle wide open to help push the most fuel when cranking over.

Still a mystery how it lost prime.

hmmm....haven't looked at my 2 tractors in a while, but thought they were 4 Cyls?

Yeah holding the throttle open didn't help much either. And agree, mystery as to why it did this just because it sat for about 18 months. I can see it IF the tank went dry, but it did not. Im about to relocate it up to the mtn home so hopefully it will get run a few times a year whenever we are up there, and we dont have a repeat..
