I have a Miller welder with a 3 cycle kubota motor we bought a new inj pump go it on and bleed it but it would only start with a gas Soaked rag. It then ran for about 5 min now won’t start at all.
Does the fuel kill lever supposed to slide back and forth so that it sticks out past the groove on each end?
Do we have to time it to RE install the pump?

I'm guessing you've checked the obvious, full tank of fuel, uninterrupted fuel flow after the fuel filter with the hose disconnected, does the hose then go to a lift pump before the injector pump, good flow after the lift pump, while cranking. Bleed each injector while cranking. The timing is changed by the thickness of the shims under the pump.
Engine model/size and pics may be handy for further diagnosis.

"3 cycle" ??

I suspect you mean 3 cylinder. Can you please tell us specifically which engine you have? Is it the small D600 (600 Cubic Centimeter displacement)... or something else?
