I bought a JD 212. It has a Kohler in it which I believe to be splashed lubed. It came with a snow thrower, deck, parts deck, and tiller that needs new bearings and tines. My future build site won't have much slope on it, so it should work fine there. I'd like to be able to use it to blow the drive at my BIL's place, but the drive is pretty steep. How much slope can I run without starving the engine for oil?

I think with the proper oil - and level, you will be fine - they design those engines for work that is not always "level"

that dipper stick if it has one, will almost hit the bottom of the case - so as long as you have a good bit of oil - you should be fine!:)

The engine will be fine. Your 'hill' would have to be so step as to be in-nagivagable to create an oiling issue. My own experience has been extreme angles caused the engine to consume or spit oil out and not cause a 'run-dry' situation.
