Implement Suggestions for clearing (BX23s)

So i've already used the BX23s to great success clearing a path to get into some land so i can get to brush... locate stumps etc (already removed 2 of them). I am coming accross some smaller trees I was able to knock out with the bucket of all things - one of them i was able to dig in with my bucket and pull it out from the root ball - others i just knocked down , came back with the backhoe and pulled them out (backhoe was a learning curve - and still getting used to it). What other implements would you guys suggest for this type of stuff. I already cleared out about 1/2 acre made a giant mess of small trees, sapplings and 2 stumps. Was thinking i am overdue for a brush hog (And grapple). But I was thinking of getting a Baumalight MP330 as well to speed things up a bit and a box blade to help clear out all the ruts i made along the way. This was taken in the middle of a water break... it was so hot out I was wondering if I was getting punished for my sins. Ultimately cleared a path big enough to get in via road frontage for my truck/trailer and a little landing area. (No I am not getting a bigger tractor, also not buying/getting a skid steer).

That looks doable with a bush hog. Should have enough power for a 4’ one.

Could add a tooth bar onto your front bucket. I haven’t had one on a tractor that small but my other tractors I could pin the tree/bush over and curl the bucket and it would pop out of the ground.

I'll say you're getting full use out of it! I think the 23 comes with a hydrostat fan guard, but, if not, get one yesterday. And a grill guard.

Based on my L35 experience, I'll just say don't run over brush, push it out of the way or pick it up.

Did that with a few of them already - with the bolt on cutting edge on. One of them was a bit more stubborn.

Yeah i was pretty careful to not let brush under it - i did get the bxpanded skid plate - and its on its way here. I definitely felt like i got the full use out of it.

I didn't see where you mentioned the acreage you are going to clear, but from the picture it would be less cost and wear on your machine to hire someone with forestry equipment. Here's some info.

https://forestrymulchingpros.com/brush-mulching-benefits-and-techniques/
I already talked to a guy - i have to get a driveway in place as well as a landing area - thats what i am using the BX for now - however its clearing just fine now - nowhere near as quick (or even in the same universe) as a skidsteer with a mulcher head - however i am not spending $150k + or spending thousands to rent one (they won't even rent one with a mulcher head and make you sign liability/waivers stating you won't use one with their equipment). If i wanted all of my acreage cleared - really quick there is no other way imo. Also a mulcher will leave stumps behind in the ground ... i don't want that.

Little brush (1" or less") and a 4' brush hog will take care of it right quick ... About an acre an hour ...

If it's gonna be a driveway eventually, you probably are gonna want to get the roots out ... The BXPanded Piranha Tooth Bar (or similar) will pop out the little ones faster than setting up with the BackHoe (BH) ...

The BH and a root ripper will take out up to 6" stumps in less than half an hour, damp soil helps ... But the more "tree" you have left on, easier to push with the bucket to knock it over and get the rootball out ...

Slide the tooth bar under the ground starting about 6" before the "tree", dig in about and inch or so, when you "bump into" the root, keep light pressure on it and "curl" the bucket up, and drive forward in 4X4 Low range, it should just pop them out ... !

A box blade with rippers could also help, but biggest obstacle is the light weight of your tractor getting enough TRACTION!

Obviously I don't have a Kubota BX TLB like you do ... BUT, if it's similar to my Massey Ferguson TLB a relatively easy way to add TRACTION weight after you add steel wheel weights (I don't believe your manual allows liquid filled tires with the BH on!)

On mine ... The top BH mount is 1" diameter ... I looked around my garage and found out that a 3/4" black iron pipe had an OD of 1"! I bought some 1" center hole weight lifting plates and started adding them, need little ones in closer to clear my lower 3pt arms ...

IMG_20250412_170213982.jpg

Puts weight down fairly low and close to the rear axle, not as good as steel wheel weights, which I also have, but lots cheaper per pound too!

200 Lbs on the BH mounts, plus 70 Lbs on each rear wheel, plus 75 Lbs inside each tire, I could stop and start at will with this full 6" blade ...

At those prices - absolutely interested. However I am in VA - and they charge alot more than that. Secondly - how are you going to make money with those figures ? Running that machine all day is probably going to run you around $300-$500 + the cost of fueling up your truck and wear and tear on your trailer and other equipment.

I ordered the pirahana toothbar already. Just waiting for a bunch of stuff to get here. My land looks very similar to how yours did. I am going to work this BX until i am satisfied with a few acres - then see about getting a skid steer - or mini excavator to remove the stumps out first - then a skid steer to just mulch everything thats left. I hate dealing with tree stumps after the fact.

I think I'd rent a skid steer or excavator and use a forestry mulcher.

It would save the wear/tear on your BX.

That’s impressive—guy I use in NWA is 175/hr, 4 hour minimum. He’s a local firefighter and it’s his side gig, plus he did very efficient work for the 4 hours he did for me a few years ago so worth every bit of that.
Agree with everything said above—save your machine and hire someone with their equipment for the big stuff.

possible option ?
I've used an HLA 900# pallet fork to 'push back' Mother Nature on 3/4 of the perimeter of an 8 acre field. Once you get the 'feel' of it and the correct fork spacing, it goes pretty fast. Also real handy to haul logs as well. while a grapple might be easier, they're a LOT more money, need 3rd fnx and can't carry as much.
