I woke up at 315 this morning to our barn on fire. Moved four trucks (one burned) and my l3901. It had some heat damage on one side of the instrument cowling and one taillight. Frustrating. Lost alot upstairs and down but our house, garage, and family are safe. Insurance can deal with the rest. Sad sigh.

So sorry...a barn fire is my greatest fear. I hope you can get enough help to get it rebuilt before winter.

Sad turn of events, glad to hear it wasn't worse. Any idea of the cause?

Ouch!

Lots of damp hay is getting put up around here. I'm wondering when the fires are going to start.

The big rounds sit in the fields for weeks or month, so no troubles there.
It's the "boutique", hay burner feed outfits that cause concern.

Anyone who owns a barn fears this. Sad to hear yours went but glad to see it didn't spread. Keep us tuned on how the insurance folks helped or didn't. I just upped mine to cover what replacement would cost after years of inadequate coverage. I hear the insurance companies are getting to be real sticklers for flood or fire.

Sorry for the loss...glad your family is safe...

As a person not familiar with why barn fires happen...help me out. Is this because of harvest product storage...or the equipment catching fire?

Talking with my wife today. It turns out she had put a heat lamp in the attached chicken coop to help keep some young ducklings warm. That is the only thing we can figure. No hay in the barn. Had 5 cords of very dry split wood stacked along one wall. That burned very hot. Our travel trailer, 4 wheelers, snowmobile were in there. Since we got out of livestock we use the barn for alot of storage. Upstairs and downstairs.
Insurance adjusters will be here Tuesday. Once their done we can clean up.I want to get a new one put up before snow flies. Building in winter is rough.
For now it's wait and see what insurance does.

Sorry to hear about your barn, and from what we saw 5 cord of wood takes awhile to find in your area. Our friends sister here in Maine just lost her barn and 6 or more milk cows yesterday. We don't know what caused it yet.

Insurance agent out of Seattle? If you're in the northwest I'm happy to lend you a weekend or two to build a barn.

Maclean, nice of you to offer help if you're up to a road trip. He's in the Very North West (North Pole Alaska)!
